Senior Syndicate Auckland Trip 2011
Children will all need to take:
• A day bag with them on the bus. This day bag must contain packed morning and
afternoon tea, lunch and a drink for the first day. Drink bottles are
essential as children will need to fill these with water for the rest of the
trip.
• A raincoat and camera (camera optional).
In a separate bag:
• Sleeping bag
• Pillow
• Thin squab
• Something to sleep in
• One change of clothes
• Walking shoes; no child will be allowed to participate unless they are wearing
walking shoes when they arrive at school to leave on the trip.
• Plastic bag for dirty clothes
• Facecloth/towel and soap
• Toothbrush and toothpaste
• Torch and camera but these are your responsibility. We suggest disposable
cameras are the best.
Breakfast, morning and afternoon tea and lunch will be provided on day two and the evening meal on day one.
Children are NOT to bring money, cell phones or sweets on this trip. There will be no opportunity to spend money while they are away.
A first aid kit will be taken.

All medication must be handed in to teachers on the morning of departure in a named plastic bag. All belongings must be labelled with your child’s trip number which you will be allocated before we go.

This term we have been working really hard with our learning. We have learnt about how important water is to our world and had Waterline work with us in week 3.
As part of our Inquiry we are now learning about machines. See our posting about our progress.
On September 14 we have the Sevens Tournament.
Early in October the Year 6's have a visit to Otumoetai Intermediate School and the Year 5's have Maths and Science testing run by the Ministry of Education.
We are all doing our personal best and having fun while we learn.

Our Measuring in Room 2
Lately we have been measuring things inside and outside our classroom for measurement in maths.
We have all been put with buddies to measure items around the school with 30 cm and 1 meter rulers.
We have been copying off a list and recording what we have measured in our maths book.
We have been using teamwork together to measure things over a meter.
All of us have been measuring ordinary and odd things like a dictionary and Mr. Adrian's shed.
Some of the things we have measured are huge, small and just normal sized.
Examples of things we measured are:
Door,
Friends,
Big green rubbish bin,
Desk,
Flat computer screen,
Picnic table,
Sandpit.

Check out our photos below.

Thank you to all the children who ran and organised the games afternoon for the Juniors.
ReplyDeleteIt was a lot of fun. The children really enjoyed themselves. The most popular activity they liked was the Parachute games. Thanks once again.
